Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane has resigned after being convicted on perjury charges related to a political corruption investigation.  Kane, a Democrat, was accused of leaking grand jury proceedings to embarrass a political rival and now faces a 14-year prison sentence.  As the state’s highest law enforcement officer, her case is yet another example of what’s going so terribly wrong in America today and why people have lost trust in this nation’s institutions.
