The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA both confirmed today what was widely expected, that 2015 would blow past the previous global temperature record set last year. Global temperature record keeping dates back to 1880 during the height of the Industrial Revolution when the burning of fossil fuels dramatically increased.
This marks the 4th time in the previous 11 years that a new global temperature record was set, and scientists are predicting that 2016 could be even hotter due to El Niño conditions and to the escalation of climate change.
