In the United States, between 20 and 31 million people are living on land that would be submerged by rising oceans without aggressive cuts to greenhouse gas emissions, according to a study published on Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

If would seem the oceanfront estates of the world’s wealthiest, and the insurance liability of their properties as well as most coastal urban infrastructure, will conspire to make climate change a problem for the 1 percent, the worst offenders, just as much as the rest of humanity. How could this realization not inspire meaningful action? You have to wonder.
