A NASA spacecraft circling Mars has found evidence of flowing water on the Red Planet’s surface – and in our time, not in some dim and more verdant past.
Humans may like to think Earth has the solar system’s monopoly on water, but a new study reveals that Earth’s close neighbor boasts multiple seeps of salt-laden water that were wet, or at least damp, as recently as last year.

I have read somewhere, that there is actually much more water on Jupiter’s moon Europa than on Earth.

True. Europa is believed to have a massive salty ocean beneath its icy surface which is kept in a liquid state due to tidal interaction with Jupiter. Water ice is actually ubiquitous throughout the outer solar system as evidenced in Saturn’s rings, its moon Enceladus, and elsewhere.

And don’t forget comets, which are believed to have brought water on Earth.

Awesome. Can’t wait til evidence of bacterial life having once lived in those waters is found. Our “specialty” in the universe is quickly disappearing, and I, for one, am damn glad of it.

That evidence of extraterrestrial bacterial life, though still in dispute, may have already been discovered on at least two occasions. The first involves Klaus Biemann’s (MIT) Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) robotic experiments by the 1970s Mars Viking landers, and the second involves the Allan Hills (Antarctica) meteorite (ALH 84001) found in 1984 that originated on Mars and which contains fossilized nanobacteria. Cool. Well, then it would be more awesome if fossilized fish were found on Mars. I just want the evidence to be SO indisputable and inarguable that it sends a dagger of ice into the hearts of religious extremists and conservative a-holes who think we here are all there is. We’re not, and the sooner the evidence for this is overwhelmingly shown, the happier I’ll be. Well, I guess so long as that evidence isn’t us being invaded by a species of angry termite creatures, that is. Though, I’ve lived with christians for so long, I doubt I’d notice the difference. $Amen$

Yes, the sooner that indisputable evidence of extraterrestrial life is found the better. I just hope it doesn’t come in the form of a fossilized right-wing nutjob on Mars… lol!

Or a fossilized version of Trump’s hair. Ouch!

Great links, BTW. I remember reading about the meteorite some years ago. Thanks for these.
