A manhunt is under way for Eric Matthew Frein who allegedly shot two Pennsylvania state troopers last Friday night near a state police barracks in Blooming Grove. One of the officers was killed (Bryon Dickson), the other was seriously wounded (Alex Douglass). The shooting was described as an “ambush” by Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan.
Police have been looking into the life of Frein, characterizing him as an anti-government “survivalist” and war re-enactor. Some in the news media have suggested a linkage to the Sovereign Citizens movement – a right-wing extremist group listed this year by the Department of Homeland Security as the nation’s top terrorist threat.
