In an extended interview with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi last Thursday on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart probed the former Speaker of the House of Representatives for her views on the public perception that government has become a corrupted institution. In this fascinating three-part video, a profound disconnect is apparent between the political class and the American people.
Stewart and Pelosi discussed the role of government, Republicans’ opposition to government, the corrupting influence of money in politics, the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, how lobbying affects legislation, the rise of corporate power, and why Democrats have been doing a poor job of making the machinery of government work properly. One revealing exchange occurred over the subject of political corruption. Pelosi countered Stewart’s assertion that the “system is corrupt” with an admission that there is “corruption within the system.”
I highly recommend watching all three of these videos because they get to the very heart of what’s wrong in America today.

Yep. Three great videos. Political points must accrue from the appearance of success. Real success is irrelevant to our congress.

Considering the amount of time it took Pelosi to even comprehend the point of Stewart’s questions, many politicians must be extremely out-of-touch as well.

Yes, you are right. She was just brimming over with BS, and hardly had time to consider the real questions.
