Tonight’s Virginia gubernatorial debate between Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe and Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli will be “moderated” by Chuck Todd of NBC News and MSNBC. Todd has been under fire lately for his suggestion last week that correcting politicians’ lies and falsehoods is not his job or the responsibility of the media.
With this kind of appreciation (or lack thereof) of journalism and the Fourth Estate, Virginians can expect a lot of deceptive rhetoric and rancor in the content of the debate. What they probably won’t get, at least from Todd, is a lot of factual information.
